Google

Sergey Brin and Lawrence Page were two entrepreneurs who had a goal. And that goal was to achieve Internet success. Now even though the two didn't like each other at first, they had to work together 24/7 and eventually became great friends. Google began in 1996 as a a research project. In 1999 they moved their offices to Palo Alto California. 99 percent of googles revenue achieved from its advertising programs. Google is a research program where you type something into the search bar and BOOM, you have over thousands of different links all relating to the thing you entered in. Brin and Page have invented something they love, and that is the most important thing, because you want to wake up in the morning excited for work, because most likely you will be doing it for quite some time, and that is better than flipping burgers. I have learned that no matter what you achieve in life, make sure that its something you will enjoy and not something you dislike, and be passionate about your work, just look at google, it started by two guys having a goal.

Conrad Hilton

Conrad Hilton started small with a small town shop. When he moved to hotels, he started making the money. But when the depression came in, he went completey broke seeing as he had just built the hilton hotel in dallas that no body would be going to. The only thing he had was the hotel in texas. And it turned out that was all he needed. He eventually expanded his hotel chain and he bought a hotel in new york. When he made the cabbana hilton, a rebel leader decided to stay there. His hotels are still making money, and this is because of his strategy, the blue ocean stratagy. Hilton said his goal was to make everyone a little rich.

Martha Stuart

Martha was a very good student when she was in high school. A very preppy girl who once was a model. When she got older she started her own catering business and this is what began her fame. When she started her own stock she got caught in 2004 for lieing to stock brockers about how much money she had earend. She went to jail for 5 months and that mustve been pretty depressing. What I have learned in conclusion is that you should play fair and in the end you will prosper.

Mike Kinds Last Lecture

Today Mike talk to us for the last time. He gave us some pointers, so to speak, on how to enjoy life while progressing. Have fun.. You dont want to wake up in the morning and not look forward to the day ahead, you want to be able to spring out of bed and be excited to go to work because its something you like to do. Influence is a big part in someones life. Parents usually play a huge part in someones life because their kids most of the time if not all the time, look up to them. Id say that the having fun on the job and do something you like to do is a important thing.

The apprentice

In this episode of the apprentice, the teams made mini golf courses. One team made their course with a safari theme and one with clowns. The one with clowns lost in the end and there was a fairly good reason. Their project manager didnt take responsability and blamed everyone else for her mistakes. In the end you should take responsability for your actions and clarity is key.

Master Moves

In the dragons den, Oswalado showed this thing that gives you wicked abs. Something i like is that its just simple to jump on it instead of getting in your car and going to the gym, but then again its not as efficient. I think that this is something not worth investing in seeing as i can come up with something just as good at home.

Uro club

The Uro Club is designed for men who are playing golf and who have to take a quick break and relive themselves. Its a club that you just pee into. The positive is there is a lot of people/ golfers that would be interested in this, but then what about all of the girl golfers. It just seems a little bit too much. But in the end Kevin bought it and gave him 25 grad for 70% of the company.

Pork Barrel BBQ

BBQ is a big deal in the states, even from my own opinion BBQ is unreal. Brett and Heith are two politicians that sell BBQ sauce and they asked for 50 grand. For BBQ sauce, it seems like a bit far fetched. Most of the sharks dropped out except the women, she said she would give them 50 grand for 50% of the company, and they decided to take the deal. I thought it was a good decision in the end.

Ent week

My team and I decided to sell hot dogs. Now even though they were not as popular as hamburgers or pizza, we sold out every day and made some killa profit, so all in all it was a good time with my friends. I had some great experiences and I now know that if you want to sell stuff, location is key! Not to mention how you advertise your product and the service which we had. To aplly this to my life i could see how it is helpfull with being friedly and outgoing to people, and to presue my goal, and set goals of course.

Toms Shoe Drop

The shoe drop is were people go and give away free shoes. Blake was the one who started this movement and started a company named Toms, and there if you buy a pair of shoes, a pair gets giving to someone who doesnt have shoes. The shoes are made in Argintina and are giving to people all over the world. This is a very good and very productfull way to invest your time and money into kids that havnt had the chance to wear shoes.

What I learnt from Arnold..

The video on the Mr.Universe/ superstar actor/ rollmodel is that no matter what you do you must follow your dream. Try new things, Arnold was good at this. He got tired of winning compitition after compition so he took acting school and became a known actor. He is now the governor of california and is a multi-millionair. Something that inspired me is not to let people bring you down and just get off your butt and get to work and never give up.

Blue Ocean Stratagie.

The blue ocean stratggie is creating your own market. Like airplanes for example airplanes created there own market because there is not much competitiopn. Apple is another good example because there is not much that can compete with them in the industry of ipods/mp3s because ipods will win any day. And the new ipad is the hottest thing in its idustry. The blue ocean stratagie is a succesful way of making money and wiping the compition out of the game.

foldio

Christian has a folder that is smaller than regular ones and doesn't crease the paper. Most of the dragons backed out except for 2. He sold his company to Theo for 80,000 ponds (round 200,000 Canadian) and 30% of the company. I think that this could go somewhere because kids in college would see this as a big convenience. So i think that by taking this deal he made the smarter decision.

Element Bars

John Miller is and entreprenuer that started his own energy bar buisness. started it a year and a half ago in 2008, wanted 150,00$ and 15% . The sharks are a litlle uneasy on what to do. 36.00$ for a pack of 12 granola bars with my name on it. It seems to me like a little bit of a scam. But in the end he got a agreement licence, 150,000.00 $, 4 % royalty and gave up 30% of his company. In the end i think he took the right offer.

Ray Kroc

Ray Kroc was an entreprenuer who had a goal. He bought the Mcdonalds franchise from the Mcdonald brothers and turned it into a world wide attraction. But before he could go anywhere with this he had to buy land. So he went and bought other companies property so that he could build his Mcdonald buildings and get this buisness started. His inevation was to succed in life and nothing was going to stop him not even his family. His goal was to make at least 1000 Mcdonald stations from coast to coast. He was the one who gave the term fast food its real name by going from 20 minute service to 30 second service. Mcdonalds is the biggest food franchies to date.

The Bobble Place

Jeff from the bobble head depot was stuck on this idea of his to branch his online bobble head business into a mall as a kiosk. The problem with this is that to rent space in a mall cost about 3k these days. When he asks the sharks for the money he fails to tell them about his online business that is bringing in lots of cash. By declining the offer I think he took the wrong route and should of reconsidered the offer.

Dave Thomas was the founder of KFC (kentuky fried chicken) and Wendys food industries. Thomas was a very hard worker and never gave up no metter what the cost was. He out did the competition all the time. Thomas had a full time job at the age of 12, and was the manager at the age of 22. No matter what the obsticals were, Dave Thomas never stopped pushing himself and never gave up. Saunders was Thomas's closets partners and together they own 2 of the biggest resurants today.

Sam Walton

Sam Walton was the founder of walmart, and it all started with his little shop in Arkansas. The way he would get his products was he would go and purchase them late at night a put them in his store at night so they were ready to go in the morning. The first walmart actually opened on July 2nd in 1962. To this day the Walton family are the richest family in the world. The hardworking and determanation was what got them through this. And it paid off. Sam Walton never gave up and never backed down from a challenge.

Steve Jobs

In this video, Steve Jobs talks about his life as an entrepreneur. Something that sticks out to me is to do something and follow something you love to do. Life's to short to do something you don't like. He also says that death is just another path. He says its like clearing out the old and bringing out the new. A quote that he says is "stay hungry. and stay foolish". The way i see this is never be satisfied and always take risks.

Shark Tank- Mr Todd's Pie Factory

In this episode of shark tank, Mr Todd wants to offer his pie company and was willing to give up 10% of his company to one of the sharks. In the end one of the sharks offered to invest into his company in exchange for 50% of his company. I think that he made the right choice in the end because this money is going to improve his buisness and maybe the buisness will get a little bigger and he will be making more money then he ever dreamed of.

John D Rockefeller

John D Rockefeller was one of the greatest entrepreneurs in American history. And it all started from oil. What i learned from him and his ways is that you can start from little to nothing and as long as you go outside your bubble or comfort zone then your able to succeed. All the entreprenuers we have learned about all have the same common goal and that is to just push your limits and to take risks.

Mike Kind Lecture

In todays lecture Mike talked about how he started his own buisness and just how he started with next to nothing at the age of 18 when he was in his dads garage door buisness. After that he started a garbage collecting company and it ran for about 9 years. He was able to pay for a morgage at 21. He was telling us just to stop at nothing and keep pushing your limits and take those risks thatll get you that extra mile.

Who am I

In my own opinion i believe that i am a creative and imaginative person. I like to think about things a lot and i like to "daydream" a lot as well. When I'm walking around I like to just look at things like the mountains and just think about forgetting ever thing and just climbing one. I can also see myself being a loyal and trusting person. I'm also spiritual, I go to church and read my bible and go to youth. I think these words best describe who I am, but like I said this is just in my opinion. My friends could see me as a totally different person.

Sir Richard Branson

Sir Richard Branson is the founder and owner of Virgin, and there are many other different branches of this company that are run by other people. One of his major success was that all of his employees talk to one another about what they are doing. Branson thought that if you can run one company you can run any company. He didn't care about putting his dignity on the line when it came to furthering his business. One of his big projects is his space shuttle that is still in progress. He has also made his on reality TV show and he loves to explore and has come close to death many times. One thing that stands out about Branson is that he had dyslexia and wasn't even able to tell the difference between net and gross pay. Sir Richard is also concerned about the issues in the world like global warming, and has gone to Africa and is trying to coordinate the central problems. He owns his own private island in the Caribbean and has gone to prison before. Sir Richard Branson is one of the greatest entrepreneurs of all time.

How to kill the entreprenurial spirit

In the article "How To Kill The Entrepreneurial Spirit" the writer talks about how people make there own business without even thinking about the essentials. In order to start a business you have to think what are people going to buy that's going to give me cold hard cash and will sell for a while before I come up with my next product idea. A lot of people assume that you can just start a business and make something that wont even sell. A business owner needs to set up a team and you have to be able to talk to each other instead of then working against each other (the silo affect).

Confidence

I guess where I started being confident in my self was when I went to youth for the first time. They taught us lots of strategies on how to be confident in ourselves. I was new to the group and wasn't very confident in my not only my social life but myself in general. The group was all very accepting. We met new people and made new friends and that's how we gained confidence and I use these techniques but in a modified way from time to time.

First post.

Entrepreneurship 12

Ent. 12 in my opinion is all about confidence building and attitude reflects you confidence. The more effort and heart you put into something the more you feel better about what you achieved. If you cheat on a test and get an A isn't as good of a feeling as if you study hard and write the test and get a B. Entrepreneurship is going to be a big confidence builder for me I hope.
